Celebrate the Largest Satanic Monument on Public Property
On June 18, 2022, The Satanic Temple will hold our second annual Satanic ritual in front of the 40-foot-tall Bladensburg Peace Cross in Maryland, celebrating it as a Satanic monument to honor Satanist veterans.
To understand why this cross is a Satanic monument, you have to know why the cross is allowed to exist on public property. In 2019, the Supreme Court flagrantly and absurdly declared, in the case of American Legion v. American Humanist Association, that the 40-foot tall concrete Bladensburg Peace Cross does not violate the Establishment Clause of the United States Constitution.
SCOTUS claimed that although crosses, in general, are Christian symbols, that specific cross had taken on a secular meaning that extends beyond being a Christian symbol so that it instead is a monument for veterans of all religions. They declared that it is not only a Christian cross but also a Jewish cross, a Muslim cross, and a cross for everyone. This means it is a Satanic cross, as well.
Our upcoming ritual on June 18th honors Satanist veterans and takes these SCOTUS at their word. The ceremony is a celebration designed to ensure that Satanist veterans are overtly represented by the cross that our government has decided belongs to “all religions,” including ours.
