AFTER SCHOOL SATAN

The After School Satan Club Is An After School Program

That Promotes Self-Directed Education By Supporting

The Intellectual And Creative Interests Of Students.

EDUCATIN’ WITH SATAN

The After School Satan Club does not believe in introducing religion into public schools and will only open a club if other religious groups are operating on campus. ASSC exists to provide a safe and inclusive alternative to the religious clubs that use threats of eternal damnation to convert school children to their belief system. Unlike our counterparts, who publicly measure their success in young children's "professions of faith," the After School Satan Club program focuses on science, critical thinking, creative arts, and good works for the community. While engaged in all of these activities,  we want clubgoers to have a good time.

AFTER SCHOOL SATAN CLUB MISSION

AFTER SCHOOL SATAN CLUB MISSION

Proselytization is not our goal, and we’re not interested in converting children to Satanism. After School Satan Clubs will focus on free inquiry and rationalism, the scientific basis for which we know what we know about the world around us.

We prefer to give children an appreciation of the natural wonders surrounding them, not a fear of everlasting other-worldly horrors.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • 1. WHY DO WE NEED AFTER SCHOOL SATAN CLUBS?
  • The pre-existing presence of evangelical after school clubs not only established a precedent for which school districts must now accept Satanic groups, but the evangelical after school clubs have created the need for Satanic after school clubs to offer a contrasting balance to student’s extracurricular activities.

  • 2. What are the Good News Clubs?
  • I Good News Clubs are an after school program established by an insidious organization known as the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) whose stated mission is to “evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living.”

  • 3. What does the Good News Club teach?
  • According to an analysis of Good News Club curriculum literature from 2011, the program places “a heavy emphasis on sin (~5000 mentions), obedience (>1000 mentions), punishment (~1000 mentions), and hell (>250 allusions, including 52 direct uses of the word “Hell”). Children are told, in very personal terms, that they are sinful, wicked, deceitful, and deserving of punishment, death, and an eternity of suffering in hell.” The Good News Clubs strive to train children to evangelize to other children to bring them to their religious thinking.

  • 4. How much support does the Good News Club have?
  • The CEF does not represent the whole of American Christians and, in fact, they seem to have an acrimonious relationship with a significant population of Christians. There happens to be no shortage of Christians who understand the value of Church/State separation and prefer that religious matters be left to individual families and their communities of worship and/or practice. Like us, these Christians believe that religious doctrine should not be insidiously coerced upon children in public schools.

  • 5. Is Satanism in schools legal?
  • Yes. The Supreme Court ruled in 2001 in the case of Good News Club v. Milford Central School that schools operate a “limited public forum” and that, as such, they may not discriminate against religious speech should a religious organization choose to operate an After School Club on their premises.

  • 6. What do children learn in the After School Satan Clubs?
  • All After School Satan Clubs are based upon a uniform syllabus that emphasizes a scientific, rationalist, non-superstitious world view. We incorporate games, projects, and thinking exercises that help children understand how we know what we know about our world and our universe.

  • 7. Who operates After School Satan Clubs?
  • After School Satan Clubs are operated by The Satanic Temple. Our volunteers are local, community members that have been vetted by After School Satan Club Leadership and The Satanic Temple's Executive Ministry. Our volunteers are selected for their professionalism, social responsibility, and superior communication skills. All of our volunteers have passed a comprehensive criminal background check and received After School Satan Club training.

  • 8. How do I start an After School Satan Club in my school district?
  • If there isn’t a chapter of The Satanic Temple near you, but you’re interested in starting an After School Satan Club in your school district, please contact The Satanic Temple. Please keep in mind that The Satanic Temple is not interested in operating After School Satan Clubs in school districts that are not already hosting the Good News Club. However, The Satanic Temple ultimately intends to have After School Satan Clubs operating in every school district where the Good News Club is represented.

  • 9. Don’t you think it’s best to keep religion out of schools?
  • Yes. But the worst case scenario, when religion is allowed in the schools, is an environment in which one religious voice enjoys the exclusive benefit of delivering its teachings to the children, promoting the understanding that their religion is endorsed by the school, or otherwise has special privilege within their community. The Satanic Temple does not advocate for religion in schools. However, once religion invades schools, as The Good News Clubs have, The Satanic Temple will fight to ensure that plurality and true religious liberty are respected.
